How to Shop For and Buy Your Wedding Dress

The Size Discrepancy Dilemma

Ordering the correct size for your bridal gown or bridesmaid's dresses can be a frustrating experience. Most shops carry sample gowns in a size 10. If you're not a size 10, you're going to have to use your imagination when selecting your wedding dress. It can be difficult to envision yourself in a gown that doesn't fit. Always take along your mother or maid of honor to get an honest opinion. If you are smaller than a 10, have the consultant pin the gown on you to determine the fit. If you are larger than a 10, get into the dress as best you can. Once you've made your decision, the bridal salon will order the gown in your size. Most of the time, the size the shop advises you to buy won't be the size you normally wear and chances are (horror of horrors), they'll advise you to order a larger size. And here's where the fireworks begin.
