PART I: A Healthy Body Means Healthy Skin
Your skin is the largest organ of your body. The downside? Unlike your heart or liver, you can see it. For that reason, it must look its best. Healthy, glowing, clean skin is a mark of beauty and good health.
Exercise is a must!
Sweat cleans the pores, while exercise keeps your body in tip-top shape. It also improves circulation and oxygenates the skin while providing nutrients. It tones the muscles and makes the body stronger. It's best to exercise at least three times a week-even a vigorous 20-minute walk will do the trick.
A good diet is essential.
Your skin reflects what you eat. To keep it looking great, eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, and grains. Eat protein, the low fat variety, and be sure to drink eight glasses of water per day. It prevents toxin build-up in the body.
Don't smoke!
Nothing can ruin your skin (and your body) like smoking. You might not see the effects now, but in years to come, your face will-if not your body.
Restrict alcohol intake.
There's nothing wrong with a glass of wine or two, but if your skin is sensitive, or you struggle with skin problems like rosacea, it's best to avoid red wine.
Get plenty of rest.
Nothing rejuvenates your body and your skin like a good night's sleep, and what better way for you to look your freshest on your wedding day? Get plenty of rest before the big day. You should not walk down the aisle looking like you need a transfusion.
Don't be a sun worshiper.
Nothing can damage skin like the sun; stay away from it. Always wear a sun block that contains protection (labeled SPF-sun protection factors) that protect from the sun's harmful rays, both UBA and UVA.
Vitamins can help.
It's good to take skin-friendly vitamins like C, A, E, and beta-carotene. They are called anti-oxidants and can prevent damage to the skin.
